Many people wonder if it is true that a deck of cards has the power to predict your future or at least read your mind in the present moment. Let us start by clarifying that this article is not meant to explore the origins of Tarot or its historical uses and interpretations. The purpose of this article is to share a spiritual and energetic perspective on the Tarot — and why, in its essence, it is a therapeutic tool.
We all agree that everything, including us, is energy. Energy transmutes, transfers, transmits, and transforms. That’s how we understand that humans can channel. We channel energy because we are energy ourselves, and we are instruments of energy movement. The Tarot is a Sacred Book written in image and symbol. Why sacred? Because everything humans channel and develop in service of our Ascension is sacred and comes from Divine Origin.
In order to connect with the Tarot at the depth it was intended — and turn it into a sacred moment — we need a few key components:
A clean intention to receive what benefits our process of ascension (and therefore healing),
A deck of cards as the tool of transmission through its imagery,
And a channel — a person chosen by the Divine — to transmit the messages through the Tarot.
The clean intention is fundamental. If our approach to the Tarot is less elevated, the chances of benefitting from a reading are diminished. On the contrary, we may even incur karma by opening doors or portals that are not aligned with our present moment or our soul’s learning process. This can happen when our intention is to gossip about someone else’s energy without a clear purpose, or to try to control or obstruct another person’s free will.
The deck itself is a tool — a manifestation of Divine messages captured through paper and ink. It is like a book: the divine aspect of a book lies in the message inspired to its channel, not in the physical form it takes once it is “downloaded” and materialized for humans to access. The respect we offer the Tarot is for the message it transmits, and that reverence is only possible if the channel is conscious of it.
And finally, the channel: a person whose tool given by the Divine is the Tarot. It is of Divine order that each human connects to their own unique tool of transmission — and Tarot is no different. A channel will connect with the meanings of the cards on different levels: the apparent meanings, which are learned through books, schools of thought, and the lineage of previous Tarot masters; and the hidden meanings — the message the channel receives in the moment through the spread. These are temporal meanings the cards adopt during a session, in which the channel understands what the Guides are transmitting to the querent.
Returning to the point of energy, the cards drawn are the ones necessary for the message to be transmitted in alignment with the law of synchronicity. The same energy will inspire the hands to shuffle and draw the exact cards that are meant to be seen.
As a final message, we want to emphasize the importance of intention — from where everything emanates. According to your intention, so will be the result of the session: the channel you attract, the energy you receive, and the growth or healing you may access. When we do not connect with the right intention, we can open timelines that are not our best possible future — especially when connecting with channels who operate from fear and deliver messages rooted in the worst-case scenario. This can lead to energetic contamination or even activate disempowering experiences not aligned with our true path.
On the contrary, when our intention is clean and clear, the outcome of a reading is not simply predictive or clarifying — it becomes deeply healing. Because through the Tarot, we connect with our obstacles and blocks. And by recognizing them, we begin to heal them. This allows us to take a quantum leap, aligning more quickly with our best possible timeline. Our Higher Self is able to connect with us more directly, because the message received clears the obstruction that was blocking Divine inspiration.
Therefore, I would conclude this article by saying:
The key to a therapeutic Tarot session is Intention.
