The Ascendant in Astrology is the way you enter the world. It is your avatar—the dress your soul wears in order to transit this existence—and it defines the way you project yourself to others when you’re on mission here on Earth. The Ascendant can be associated with your task on Earth. The reason you wear the “dress” of your Ascendant is not just an ego thing or a way to show off. It is not a fake mask—it is, in truth, your purpose of existence. You come to exercise your Ascendant in front of all; you give others your Ascendant as part of your mission.
If it is a fire energy, you come to initiate and lead.
If it is an air energy, you come to create strategies and connections.
If it is a water energy, you come to empathize, connect emotionally, and transform.
If you are born with your rising sign in an earth energy, you come to create, concretize, and sustain manifestation.
So when you ask yourself again, Why am I here?—look at your Rising. Embrace the energy of your Ascendant to understand the beginning of the task.
The second aspect you need to look at is your Moon.
The Moon is related to a sense of security. In reality, it is a point of the past—it is what your soul is familiar with. Your soul resonates with your Moon energy because it is the energetic womb from which you are born. Therefore, it nurtures your soul.
The Moon is not something to ignore. It is something to tame, yes—but it is also something that must be fed.
If it is a fire moon, you feed on initiation, innovation, leadership, expansion, and illumination.
If your Moon is in an air sign, your mental body holds great importance. Organizing your thoughts, developing clarity, and creating strategies give you security and fuel your life project.
If you have a water moon, emotional connection, love, and empathy are what nurture you and support your path.
If your Moon is in an earth sign, what brings you security is working on your structure, cultivating routines, and being in contact with your body.
The third aspect to consider is your dominant planet. Personally, I prefer to look at the seven classical planets. Your dominant planet reveals the type of energy that primarily guides you—we could say it’s your magic wand, the style through which your work is expressed.
Is it through Mercury—communication?
Or through Venus—connection and harmony?
Mars—conquering and asserting?
The Sun—shining, radiating, being?
The Moon—feeling and nurturing?
Jupiter—expansion, teaching, and blessing?
Or Saturn—structure, discipline, and commitment?
We can also consider the sign, element, and modality of the dominant planet, which adds layers to how this energy flows through you.
The fourth aspect is your Sun.
This is where you are meant to land in this incarnation—an energy you grow into. The Sun is your path back to the Light. You become one with God through your Sun. It is the secret pearl, because only when you align your Ascendant, Moon, and dominant planet can you truly access the full expression of your Sun.
Your Sun is the way God manifests through you at your core.
That’s why we call it the purpose of life.
The 28 Lunar Mansions, each one associated with an Arabic letter, are portals of entry that specify your unique energetic imprint. Each letter is connected to a mansion and a Divine Name. This is one way to access our Divine Inner Names, and, eventually, our Inner Divine Dominant Name—the attribute of God that our soul is here to embody in this lifetime. It is our unique blueprint.
This is one of the great gifts our beloved Ibn Arabi left us: the understanding that the Divine Names are not only frequencies we invoke to call upon the Divine—they are also our own inner personal energies. They are within us, forming part of our energetic composition. We are the result of His Manifestations, expressed through what we call His Attributes.
Every time we incarnate, we adopt a particular mix of these frequencies in order to fulfill our role and mission on this Earth.
Gratitude to you, Ibn Arabi—
May your teachings resonate and elevate humanity until the end of this mission…
