The big lie about the ego is that it is something we are meant to demolish.
The ego is not meant to be destroyed. It gives us individuality, self-recognition, differentiation, and the capacity to experience ourselves as a unique being.
Without it, we can lose our sense of individuality and begin to perceive ourselves everywhere, as part of everything — very much in the Piscean style. Because in higher dimensions of consciousness, we know that we are God, that we are part of everything, and that everything is part of us.
But that higher consciousness needs limitation within this reality.
Otherwise, we can move through life without the ability to protect, define, or recognize ourselves. We become so open to everything that we can be crushed by those who have no recognition of their own divine nature.
The other extreme is the person who recognizes only their humanity and completely disconnects from their divine origin. They know their name, their identity, their place in this reality — and they defend it with teeth and nails.
A person without ego is like a soul without a body: ethereal, but without the capacity to ground, root, define, and ultimately manifest.
They may become incapable of feeling special because they see themselves as nothing more than a generic drop of God on Earth. They see beauty and perfection everywhere, but become unable to recognize the beauty and perfection within themselves.
The ego is the defender we have in this reality. It helps us recognize ourselves, establish boundaries, make choices, and navigate our individual journey. It is an important part of our human process.
And yet, many spiritual people have been taught to see the ego as the enemy.
Then they wonder why they do not succeed, why their message does not reach people, why their work remains unseen, or why they struggle to manifest what they know they came here to create.
Sometimes the answer is simple:
They have no boundaries.
They have no grounding.
They have no functional ego.
They have confused egolessness with spirituality.
But the ego does have the capacity to distort our perception of our divine nature. It can make us believe that we are only the individual, separate from the whole.
And when we recognize no drop of divinity within ourselves, we can move toward the opposite extreme.
We become people who go against everything and everyone in order to get our way. Our god becomes ourselves. In the pursuit of our objectives, we take whatever means necessary and walk against, or even on top of, anyone who stands in our path.
The counter-effect of the completely egoless person can be the egotistical, megalomaniacal being.
A narcissistic human, in the deepest sense of the word, is someone who sees nothing beyond their own humanity — someone who must compete against billions of other human beings in order to reach the top, because they need to feel important.
So where is the balance?
The awakened human of the New Earth is someone who recognizes both their divinity and their humanity.
They are a god walking on Earth, with feet and hands.
They recognize their individual and special qualities while simultaneously recognizing that they are part of an extraordinary, perfect creation emanating from the Source of everything that is.
The awakened human uses the ego to achieve victories that benefit both themselves and the collective.
They use their divinity to love unconditionally and, through that love, heal their brothers and sisters in humanity.
They celebrate their victories and their gains because they recognize that their victory is also the victory of their family tree — the healing of what came before them, the transformation of what was once carried unconsciously, and the victory of the collective over darkness.
The awakened human also knows how to rest.
They do not constantly try to be seen because they understand that they are already the Seer.
They know their divine nature.
And when you remember that divinity is complete, there is nothing external that can give you the recognition you are desperately seeking. There is no true externality when you understand that you are part of All That Is.
The awakened human trusts themselves.
They trust their power.
They pray.
They surrender.
They act.
And they remember that their power does not exist separately from something Greater.
The awakened human places boundaries against the darkness of others while embracing the divinity within them.
Their problem with another person does not have to end in hatred or enmity.
They can say:
I recognize your divinity, but I will not allow your unconsciousness to violate mine.
This is what healthy boundaries are.
Not hatred.
Not punishment.
Not separation from love.
Discernment.
The awakened human loves life.
They love creating.
They love succeeding.
They love receiving.
They love experiencing the beauty of being alive.
Because success, when consciously embodied, is not a betrayal of spirituality.
It is divinity being exercised through a material body, on a material Earth.
We did not come here to become less human.
We came here to remember the divine nature of being human.
The ego gives us the I.
The soul gives us the why.
The body gives us the where.
And consciousness allows us to understand that the I and the whole were never truly separated.
Maybe enlightenment is not becoming nobody.
Maybe it is becoming fully yourself while remembering that the self you are is an expression of something Infinitely Greater.
A unique drop of the ocean that never stops being the ocean.
Thank you for being who I am.
And thank you for remembering who I am.
